Actually, the songs have been out for awhile but I haven’t got around (too busy) to update it here.

When we started to plan this release last summer, we wanted to create  something bit more upbeat and have kick ass metal riffs. When we were recording the songs for the old releases we always played around with metal riffs and decided that we need to make metal/heavy metal album/EP.

The plan was to release these songs during the autumn of 2011, but because I were busy working on Iron Sky the schedule was constantly being pushed back. We could only work for few hours per week. This time we had Jesse and Pekka from the band Hey Jodie to help us out. Jesse sang vocals for the track Gunpoint Method and Pekka helped us out with the drums. Big Thank you for both of the fellas!

Hope you enjoy! Share the tracks in FB/Twitter or leave us a comment on SoundCloud and stay tuned for more Sine Cadenza music in the future!
Over and out!

Iron Sky – Official CGI reel

As some of you might know, I worked on the finnish scifi movie Iron Sky for the last year. I worked as a digital compositor with ~20 other guys at Energia Productions (now known as Troll VFX). The office was located in Tampere. My journey into the film started when the lead compositor Juuso Kaari was teaching at our school the basics of compositing. Since I had 5 years under my belt I really didn’t really need to go there, but decided to go the class just get academic credits easily.
We started talking about compositing and Iron Sky and other releated stuff, and on the second day of the class he asked me if I wanted to work on the film. I said, of course!

In Iron Sky we used The Foundry Nuke for comp, so as a AE-guy, I needed to learn how the new software works. I was pleased how easy and fun working with Nuke is. The node based workflow really allows you to do stuff more easily that you could in other software. And once you go Nuke you don’t go back. I keep other software, like AE close to me for motion gfx work.

My job in the end was to composite most of full CGI shots and some of the greenscreen studio shots. CG shots were interesting to work with since we had the Lightwave and Maya teams nearby we could always go through renders together and see what worked and what didn’t. The Lightwave team was led by Kelly Myers and Lee Stringer and together with the rest of the LW team, they pulled of demanding and complex shots in a amazing pace.
The production was really good place for novice visual effect artists like myself to work and learn from professionals. With Samuli Torssonen leading the whole CGI crew, there wasn’t a day when you didn’t learn something new and interesting.

It was a year long gig for me. Many long nights were spent in the office getting those shots done, but in the end I would not trade the whole experience for anything. The following Youtube video is the official CGI reel released by Troll VFX. Since the movie just got out I will be sitting on my own Iron Sky showreel for a little while. But because I worked on most of the space shots and greenscreen shots, there are lot for you to see!

I’m currently working on some music for an upcoming adventure game, so I will be uploading some samples sometime soon!

See you guys next time!

Reggaerekka

This next one has to be one of the most viewed works I have done yet. 160 000 hits on YT when writing this post!

Lord Est, finnish reggae artist released a music video for his latest single “Reggaerekka” (Reggae truck). I was asked to do some vfx work for the vid.
I’m not too happy of the results on my part. Things needed to be done fast and I had only few hours to work on it during nights (I spend my days working on the upcoming scifi movie Ironsky).

Otherwise I think the video looks awesome, and it’s really funny. The song ain’t bad either.  And everything with Petri Nygård on is THE SHIT!

Check it!

Later!

Sine Cadenza music video

Happy days! And a quick post!

The awesome dudes at Serpent Pictures made us a music video for the song Clown with no Audience.
Checkit!

Cool, huh? I asked some of my friends who I know owned a HD camera to shoot a music video for us. One other guy also got interested but was too busy to get anything done (yet).
Great to see people get involed in making videos for our songs.
And remember, you can download the whole release “One Man Circus” from our site!
And yeah, I updated the site theme!

Few pictures from a game

Okay, another update.

We were working on a space shooter game few months ago. We didn’t set out to make the greatest game in the world (but we try ofcourse), but to work out how our workflow goes when we work during office hours and in a shared space. The process was really interesting because I could implement graphics to the script and throw the codes and images to the programmer who then added to the game code. So I could try out different things myself, without needing to send stuff through the web to the programmer and then see the results later.

Here are few shots from the game:

The game is in alpha stage. Time will tell if it will ever be finished, but somesort of beta release is in the works.

Stay tuned!
